A short (60 mile) Atlantic crossing and we arrive at the famous "La Gomera", the last stopping point that Christoper Columbus made before making his epic crossing to America.
In this photo we are inside the harbour wall and trying desperately to call up the marina office to book a berth. No answer back from them until we realise that the volume on the radio handset was switched right down!!! Sorry La Gomera. In town we bump into a chap that Damian met on his sea survival course. He's with a team called "Woodvale" and we now need to keep our eye on the news to see if they feature. They have a 20 strong team who are rowing (yes rowing) the Atlantic in the next few days. Hope we hear how they got on.It's Monday and sadly the wind is not in our favour and the Atlantic trip is slipping away. That's 9 months of planning, a 10 week trip to get the boat, "Reunion", down to the Canaries, a sea survival course and £35,000 spent on ocean going equipment. Today we set sail to Gomera in the Canaries while the doldrums continue. The plan now looks like a return trip to the Algarve which is nearly 1000 miles of Atlantic sailing. That'll be exciting in itself but not quite the trip we planned to St Lucia!!
